COMMONWEALTH DAY CELEBRATIONS IN THE MALDIVES |

Through the National Youth Council, 6 students from NYP had the distinguished
honour of being part of the contingent for the Commonwealth Day Celebrations
for youth in the Maldives, from 8 to 12 Mar 08. |

|
Commonwealth Day is held to promote understanding of global issues, international co-operation, and the work of the Commonwealth in improving the lives of its citizens. This year's theme was "The Environment - Our Future". Our students had opportunities to meet youth leaders from different countries from Commonwealth countries and networked with them on youth-related matters. It was an altogether fruitful and exciting time for our students on
this beautiful island country; they were even meetings with the President
of Maldives and other Ministers! The student leaders also had a fun
time being Singapore's ambassadors putting up cultural performances
and an exhibition featuring our country's culture, lifestyle and arts
& crafts. |
