Scholarships

 

 

 

 

Scholarships are offered at different times during the academic year and have varying eligibility criteria. Generally most awards are offered within the first semester. For more information on current offers, please refer to this website, your NYP student email account or the Registrar's Office Notice Board that is located outside the Shopping Arcade at Blk A, Level 2.

Notes :

  1. Students who are sponsored or are already in receipt of a scholarship/bursary in a particular academic year SHOULD NOT be applying for or be in receipt of other awards in that same year.  However, those who have applied for or are on the Tuition Fees Loan Scheme, CPF Approved Education Scheme or Mendaki Fee Subsidy Scheme may apply for bursaries or scholarships, unless otherwise stated by the donor of the award.

  2. Students must be enrolled in a full-time course at the time of application and receipt of awards.

  3. Scholarships and bursaries are usually awarded for one academic year unless stated otherwise by the donors.  Students are required to apply annually in order to be considered for the scholarships and bursaries.

List of Scholarships
Eurasian Community Fund (ECF) - Excellence Awards

Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens & PRs;

Of Eurasian race OR of Eurasian parentage i.e. having at least one parent who is Eurasian

Criteria:

Of good conduct and must have achieved academic excellence

Quantum:

Not available; Successful applicants will be informed by the Eurasian Association at a later stage.

Hokien Yeo Sze Education
Fund (Scholarship)
Eligibility:

Child of Singapore Citizens & PR with the surname YEO

Criteria:

Financial need, academic   performance, conduct and character.

Excellence in CCA is an added advantage.

Quantum: S$400/yr

(Application usually in Jul/Aug. Closed for AY07/08.)

Lin Jo Yan Scholarship
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens & PRs. 

Criteria:

Financial need and academic performance.

Quantum:

S$1,600/yr

(Closed for AY 07/08)

Mendaki Scholarship

Eligibility:

Year 1 Muslim students who are Singapore Citizens

Criteria:

Financial need, good academic, CCA performance and of good conduct.

Quantum:

S$2,000/yr

(Application usually during April. Closed for AY 08/09)

Motorola Scholarship
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens & PRs;

Year 2 students from Diploma in Electronics, Computer and Communications Engineering, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering

Criteria:

Financial need, good academic & CCA performance and of good conduct

Quantum:

S$2,250/yr

(Application closed for AY 07/08; When application opens, suitable students will be recommended by the relevant schools to apply.

Ngee Ann Kongsi Scholarship
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens & PRs from the Teochew Community.

Criteria:

Academic performance.

Quantum: S$3,000/yr

(Application usually in June. Closed for AY07/08.)

NTUC Fairprice Scholarship
Eligibility :

Singapore Citizens & PRs from Diploma in Marketing, Business Management, Information Technology, Business Informatics and Business Enterprise IT.

Criteria :

» Academic Performance and suitable aptitude.

» Successful applicants must serve out bond with NTUC Fairprice for every year the scholarship is received.  The bond starts upon student's graduation from Polytechnic or, in the case of males, after they ORD.

» Applicants are required to be attached to NTUC supermarkets during their industrial attachment phase (those who have completed this phase are not allowed to apply).

» Successful candidates would need to provide a surety with a minimum gross monthly salary of $1000.

Quantum : S$5,000/yr 

(Application is open till 13 June 2008 for AY 08/09; Suitable students will be recommended by the relevant schools to apply.)

PAP Community Foundation Study Grant
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens & PRs;

Year 2 & 3 students only

Criteria:
  • Actively involved in co-curricular activities / leadership / community services activities (such as leadership positions in poly, grassroots organisations and self-help groups)
  • Has good academic results
  • Is in need of financial help (*family monthly per capita income must not exceed $700)

*Total monthly gross family income / No. of dependents in the same household

Quantum: S$2,000/yr

(Application usually in June/July. Closed for AY07/08)

SIET Achievement
Award
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens of Indian descent.

Criteria:

Must have completed at least one academic year in NYP.

Excellent CCA record and participation in community work (preferably at leadership level).

Must give an undertaking to help SIET in community work and future projects.

Quantum: S$1,500/yr

(Application usually in Mar/Apr. Closed for AY 07/08.)

SINDA - Sri Krishnan Temple Study Award
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens who are Indian Hindu;

First year students only

Criteria:

Financial needs and excellent academic records

Demonstrated strong leadership qualities and achievements in co-curriculum activities or National Service (if applicable)

Quantum: S$3,400/yr

(covers tuition fees and student allowance for the entire period of study)

Singapore Business & Professional Women's Association Fellowship Awards
Eligibility:

Female students who are Singapore Citizens or PRs.

Criteria:

Good academic performance and outstanding leadership qualities.

Quantum:

at least S$1,000/yr

(Application usually in Jul/Aug. Closed for AY07/08.)

Tan Ah Tah-SAWL Scholarship
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens & PRs;

Students who are
physically handicapped.

Criteria:

Academic performance and family's financial situation.

Quantum: S$1,200/yr

(Application open till 31/07/08.  Application forms are obtainable at Student Services Centre.)

Tan Joo Kee Scholarship
Eligibility:

Singapore Citizens only.

Criteria:

Financial need and academic performance.

Quantum: S$1,500/yr

(Closed for AY 07/08)
