Singapore's fund management industry has seen double-digit annual growth over the past five years. As at December 2006, assets under management ("AUM") in Singapore totalled S$891 billion, a significant increase of 24% from 2005, according to the latest "2006 Singapore Asset Management Industry Survey" conducted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
In the past few years, Singapore has observed encouraging developments in the hedge fund industry. Currently, there are more than 100 hedge fund players based in Singapore, compared to less than 20 hedge fund managers prior to 2001. In order for Singapore to develop effectively as a global financial hub, supporting services are constantly being relocated into Singapore. As such, fund administration and other related services are expected to be in great demand.
