Singapore is fast establishing itself as the important biomedical research hub in the Asia pacific with an increasing emphasis on developing core capabilities for research in the areas of immunology and infectious diseases.

Many research companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lily, Novartis and Merlion Pharmaceuticals have set up their research wings in Singapore in response to this initiative. These companies focus on research in the areas of immunology and medical microbiology, with the aim of understanding infectious diseases.

Aligning to such a vision, Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) has tailored the Specialist Diploma in Immunology & Infectious Diseases to provide participants with formal qualifications in these areas.

The 40-week part-time course aims to equip participants with specialist skills and capabilities for R & D in the areas of immunology and infectious diseases. Special features of the course include 70% hands-on experimental work; interaction and networking with lead industry players; case-based learning; as well as the planning and conducting of research projects.
