Synopsis Of Programme 1 Modules

Engineering Mathematics A
This module provides students with the essential knowledge and analytical skills needed in mathematics for solving engineering problems. Major topics include Engineering Functions, Complex numbers, Matrix, Algebra, Trigonometry, Vectors and Sequences and Series.

Computer Aided Design (CAD)
This module aims to provide students the knowledge and capabilities needed in performing basic wireframe & solid modelling. Students will also be taught the techniques of importing the models to a drafting environment. Various drafting methods with full associativity with the solid models will be learned. At the end of the course, students will also be exposed to various case-study projects.

Materials Technology
The module teaches the physical and mechanical properties of engineering materials as well as their treatment processes so that students can select the most appropriate materials for engineering applications. Topics include alloying steels, aluminium and super alloy.

Metrology & QC
This module will provide students with the fundamental concepts, parameters of dimensional measurement with hands-on practice on some of the specialised instruments and techniques. By the end of the course, students should be able to develop a sound understanding of the subject which contribute to good measurement practice.

Complementary Studies 1 -
Business Communication

Complementary studies 1 is aimed to provide students with the necessary skills for effective communication in a professional environment. It covers writing skills, oral presentation and marketing. The section on writing aims to provide students with skills in paragraph writing and writing business letters while that on oral presentation focuses on presentation skills and the effectiveness of the use of visual aids. The section on marketing aims to provide a basic knowledge in marketing management.
