Synopsis Of Programme 2 Modules

Manufacturing Technology A
The module teaches various essential productions processes commonly found in the manufacturing industry such as conventional metal cutting processes, non-conventional processes. Topics include Cutting Tools for machining, Special Machining Processes, Machining centre and Non-Traditional Machining.

Engineering Science 1
It aims to teach students the fundamental concepts of engineering mechanics, with an understanding of problems related to engineering application, and enabling them to analyse and solve the problems. Topics include Principles of mechanics, statics of rigid bodies, moment of inertia, (stress and strain) and (work, energy and power).

CNC/CAM Applications
This module introduces the use of Computer Numerical Control and Computer-Aided Manufacturing software applications. Students will be taught the generation of CNC programs with a CAM software package from complex CAD models. Students will also be exposed to post processor customisation and its relation to CNC machine configuration.

Computer & Information Technology
To provide students the knowledge and skills of using Information Technology in the workplace. Topics cover the fundamental concepts of computing, IT productivity tools and the Internet revolution.

Complementary Studies 2 -
Cost Accounting

Complementary studies 2 is a module aims to provide a basic knowledge of costing principles and techniques applied in costing systems, and to equip students with management accounting techniques used in providing information for managerial decision-making, planning and control.

Complementary Studies 2 -
Introduction to marketing

Teaches the fundamental principles of marketing including the marketing management concepts and differences between consumer and business markets; basic market research skills for analysing market opportunities and selecting target markets; and the concept of marketing through an effective marketing plan.

Semestral Project 1
This module covers project assignments in which students are expected to apply techniques/skills learnt in actual applications. This module aims at exploring and developing student's creativity and innovation. Project coverage includes problem-solving skill, process improvement and teamwork. Students shall also practice their communication skills in presenting their concept. A high degree of freedom is provided to promote innovation.
