Synopsis Of Programme 4 Modules
Manufacturing Technology B
Students will be further exposed to the state-of-the-art production processes available in the manufacturing industries such as high speed machining and photo-chemical machining.
Engineering Science 2
It is structured to provide students with the fundamentals of engineering mechanics, and to enable them to analyse and solve problems related to engineering applications. Topics include forces, types of kinematic elements and the correct utilisation of the properties of engineering materials.
Microsystems & Nanotechnology
This module covers the physical principles and fundamental concepts in micro systems and micro fabrication technology. Typical micro devices such as microsensors, microactuators and microaccelerometers as well as manufacturing technology such as surface micromachining and bulk micromachining will be discussed. Students will also be exposed to nanometrology and nanotechnology.
Computer Programming
This module aims to provide students with the basic skills to write computer programs to solve practical problems. Topics include variable naming, data types, operators, branching, looping and functions. Students also learn how to describe program logic using a program design tool such as a flow chart. They will also be exposed to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) application development.
Electrical & Electronics Principles
The aim of this module is to provide students with a sound understanding of the basic principles and characteristics of commonly found electrical and electronics devices as well as their applications. Topics include DC/AC and electronic circuits, measurement of basic electrical quantities and usage of measuring instruments and electrical/electronic devices and equipment.
