Synopsis Of Programme 6 Modules
Advanced Metrology and TQM
This module provides students the theory and practical applications of Advanced Metrology and Quality Management. It covers the working principles of precision measuring equipment, its methodology and techniques in precision measurement. Practical approaches for process quality improvement using statistical techniques will also be covered.
Collaborative Design and Project Management
This module teaches the techniques and methods for collaborative engineering and commerce. This module covers the fundamentals of real-time collaboration for project information sharing and distribution, product design and design reviews, change management, project management and supplier collaboration. Also included is an introduction to the Information Technology infrastructure required for enabling collaborative design projects. Enabling tools for collaborative commerce and engineering would be introduced to the students through projects and lab sessions.
Final Semestral Project
This module provides students the opportunity to put their knowledge and skills they have acquired from the course into practice. The assigned relevant project will be guided and monitored by the supervisor. Project students are expected to plan, execute, evaluate, analyse and monitor the progress of this project within a given time frame. By the end of the project, a formal presentation and a written report are expected from the students.
High Speed Machining & Programming
This module is the continuation of the CNC/CAM module. It will feature advanced multi-axis CNC programming with the aid of a CAM software package working on complex CAD models. High speed machining technology trends and applications will be also discussed. DNC and shop floor networking concepts will be introduced.
3D Mould Design & Analysis
This module provides students with not only the basic knowledge and skills that are essential to design toolings but also the various state-of-the-art technologies used in the current CAD/CAM applications. In the mould filling process using mould flow simulation software will equips students with the ability to predict the mould filling process and its effect on the properties and qualities of the moulded part at the early stage of the mould design process.
Computer-Aided Fixturing System Design
This module develops students knowledge and skills for designing fixturing systems for flexible precision manufacturing. Topics include modular construction methods, design of functional gauges, palletising techniques and clamping system design for the manufacturing process.
Press Tool Design
This module provides students the necessary knowledge to do press tool design required to produce sheet metal components. It equips students with the abilities to analyse from the strip layout stage to the final tool design. In addition, they should also be able to evaluate various designs and to select the most appropriate one for the part production.
