The Embedded Systems Engineers Development Programme (ESDP) is a specialist programme for engineers to develop expertise in the design
and development of embedded products and systems.
This synthesis-based programme is designed for engineers in the
electronics industry, particularly in sectors such as consumer
electronics, communications, automotive, industrial automation and
avionics. Participants will have access to a whole suite of
high-performance development tools, platforms and equipment during the
practical sessions and the project development phase to hone their expertise.

Course Outline

Module 1: Embedded Systems Design & Implementation
This module focuses on the designand development processes of embedded
systems, design requirements & considerations, hardware/software
co-design, development tools and software optimisation.Participants will
acquire a solid grounding in RISC-based processors that are widely
deployed in embedded systems and the capability to design and develop
high performance, low-power intelligent products and systems using
RISC-based processors such as the ARM family.
Module 2: Embedded OS Platform Integration
This module focuses on the rapid implementation of embedded OS for the
development of intelligent products and systems. Participants will
develop
expertise in integrating and configuring embedded OS into custom
embedded platforms, including the development of device drivers & API.
Module 3: Embedded Systems Programming
This module develops the expertise in software design and development
needed to create robust intelligent products and systems for demanding
applications. It will take participants through the characteristic
features of
embedded systems programming including real-time considerations.
Module 4: Digital Signal Processing Design
Techniques
This module focuses on the development of digital signal processing in
embedded systems. Strong emphasis will be placed on DSP algorithms,
design considerations and optimisation for real-time performance in
embedded systems.
Module 5: Advanced Digital Systems Design & Implementation
This module provides participants with an in-depth understanding of
design flow and implementation in advanced digital system design.
Participants will acquire expertise in Hardware Description Language
coding, simulation, logic synthesis, integration and be able to design & develop FPGAs and ASICs.
Module 6: Embedded Systems Project
Participants will have opportunity to develop embedded hardware and
software for intelligent products andsystems. Case studies will be used
to illustrate design considerations for intelligent products and systems development.
