The Singapore Nursing Board Registered Nurse Licensure Examination

Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), School of Health Sciences(SHS) has been appointed by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) since 1999 to be the official body to conduct the Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure Examination. 
The Licensure Examinations are conducted locally and overseas from January to October annually for nurses seeking registration with the Board. The Licensure Examinations  reflect competencies for safe and current practice in Singapore and serve as a means for SNB to determine if the applicants can be registered for practice in Singapore.

Eligibility

Applicants should already have a job offer to practise nursing in Singapore.  Your employing institutions will apply to SNB for you to sit for the licensure examinations. You are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Registration certificate
  2. Training certificate
  3. Transcript of training (including hours of theoretical content and clinical experience)
  4. Practising license
  5. Work permit
  6. Record of employment  (to state dates of employment and clinical areas worked)
  7. Curriculum vitae
  8. Passport or birth certificate
  9. Marriage certificate, if applicable


Examination fees

Fees for the RN Licensure Examinations is S$30.00.  Candidates or their employing institutions are to make payment prior to sitting the scheduled Licensure Examinations. 

Cheques should be made payable to “Nanyang Polytechnic” and envelopes to be addressed to:

Procedure

  1. The employing hospital/institution will be informed by SNB  of the eligible candidates for the Licensure Examinations
  2. Applicants who have been granted in-principle approval will be informed by letter about the venue, date and time of the Licensure Examinations. They must report to NYP with  the letter of approval and their work permit or passport.
  3. Your employing hospital/institution will inform you of the outcome of the Licensure Examination.
