Final-year Diploma in Business Management students taking the International Business specialisation put forth their strategic recommendations for restaurant chain Manhattan Fish Market to expand into China and India at the Go Global Challenge.

Held on Feb 8, this annual event provided a platform for the business students to apply the international entry strategies that they have learnt in class to the business environment of a real company. The scope of their research included in-depth findings and perspectives of the new markets that the company plans to venture into.

Manhattan Fish Market was invited once again to judge the submissions prepared by 12 teams of students. Two teams from each market, China and India, were chosen for the final round and each was given 10 minutes to make their final pitch to the judges.

The winning team for China market comprised Fayanne Tania Sunyoto, Geraldine Quek Fang Lin, Hauw Shi Xiang Melissa, Ng Wei Hao Simon, Tan Sock Huay and Wan Ting Hui who stayed overnight to complete their submission. Members of the winning team for India market were Ashley Lim Wen Bin, Chia Shau Yan, Koh Wei Heng Wayne, Lim Yong Jie and Ong Bang Jun. Both teams won a cash prize of $500 each. But what mattered most was the invaluable experience that broadened their perspective and knowledge of conducting an international business.
