Team NYP Rocked for Singapore at WorldSkills 2017
Published on 20 Oct 2017

Team Singapore claimed a medal haul of two Gold Medals, three Bronze Medals and eight Medallions of Excellence at the recently-concluded global WorldSkills competition in Abu Dhabi.

Often described as the Olympics of Skills, the WorldSkills tourney this year had over 1,200 participants facing off in areas like healthcare, web design and aircraft maintenance.

Nanyang Polytechnic’s team contributed to the haul with one Gold, two Bronzes and three Medallions for Excellence.  Medallions for Excellence are given to competitors who scored at least 700 out of 800 points.

Our School of Interactive and Media Design student Ng Jun Xuan, was up against intense competition from powerhouses such as China, Russia and South Korea, but eventually emerged victorious in 3D Digital Game Art. Jun Xuan was also honoured with the Best of Nation award (given to each country’s best performing competitor). Also, doing NYP proud were Fazira Zulkifli and Li Kangli who both clinched the Bronzes in the Health and Social Care, and IT Network Systems Administration categories.

Heartiest congratulations to Team Singapore and Team NYP. We look forward to welcoming them home this Saturday, and celebrating their accomplishment.
