New Programme Strengthens Talent for Healthcare Support System
Published on 02 Aug 2017

Dear Media Friends,

For the first time, pharmaceutical technicians have a career development pathway that is shorter and clearer. These specialists play an essential role in supporting the pharmacist in dispensing medicines to patients, and are a much needed talent pool as the population ages.

Under the new SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) for the Advanced Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences, participants can further their competencies in pharmacy practice as they work. The programme, mooted by Chief Pharmacist Associate Professor Lita Chew, will accelerate career advancement by helping pharmacy technicians develop new skillsets to take on bigger roles even as they work. This would help retain experienced talents in the industry.

The programme will be officially launched by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources & Ministry of Health at the inaugural Pharmaceutical Sciences forum held at Nanyang Polytechnic. A joint polytechnic initiative, the forum exposes students to the different career options in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences through informative talks and networking sessions with industry partners.

We would like to invite your journalist and photographer/cameraman to join us at the Pharmaceutical Sciences Forum.
