Steps to Get Connected

Connecting to NYP Wireless LAN is easy. Follow these 3 simple steps and you'll be able to connect to NYP wireless network!

 

Step 1:

The first thing you need is a wireless network card that is compliant with the 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n and 802.11ac wireless specification. Follow the manufacturers instructions for installing and configuring the card. (Most of you should have done this already)

 

Step 2:
For automated Staff/Student WIFI Profile installation on Windows 7,8 &10 Platform, please download this zip file, unzip and double click on the file inside. When prompted for the SSID, please enter the SSID that you want to setup (e.g. NYP-Student or STAFF). 

 

For manual wireless configuration, please follow the guides below (Click on the appropriate guide names):

Please note that HTC Touch Pro on Windows Mobile 6.1 and Netbook are not supported. 

 

Android phone running JellyBean OS version 4.1.1 has intermittent problem connecting to NYP wireless is a known issue. Upgrading to JellyBean OS version 4.1.2 will resolve the issue. 

 

* If you are using Intel Centrino, please follow the steps below to enable the "wireless tab" under Wireless Network Connection Properties. 

  1. Make sure that the switch to turn on wireless is enabled which can be found at the side/back of the notebook.
  2. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools and double click on Services.
  3. Located "Wireless Zero Configuration" and start the service.
  4. The Wireless Tab will be "present" then.

 

Step 3 (NYP Staff only):

For staff who need to access the services available on staff intranet, e.g. Staff Portal or Microsoft Outlook to check email, you are required to login to WLAN SSL VPN.


First, save the following file onto your desktop: (Right Click on the Icon and select "Save Target AS: WLAN SSL VPN (Internet Shortcut)"
