NYP
has an outstanding record of high value-add partnerships
and trans-national links with foreign governments, institutions
and industry leaders. Our bi-lateral cooperation with the
French, German and Japanese governments in the 1970s led
to the setting up of the institutes (FSI, GSI and JSI) that
became part of the School of Engineering. This continued
relationship spans 3 decades and has enabled NYP to tap
on external resources and expertise to complement our own.
Our PCEO has also steered NYP as the partner of choice for
significant innovation and development projects with EDB,
IDA and WDA. We have been appointed by them to manage the
following: the Chemical Process Technology Centre (CPTC),
the Centre for Employability Skills (CES) and the Singapore
Institute of Retail Studies (SIRS).
Our
connections have led to significant training opportunities
and exposure to industry best practices for staff and students
through cutting-edge technology projects, joint research
and development, technology incubator support for start-up
ventures, and local and overseas industry attachments. Over
the years, world class organisations and key industry players
have set up innovation and specialist centres, business
centres and incubators with us

| Communities are our innovative response
to the problem of a lack of existing infrastructure
support for new and emerging technologies. By hosting
these communities together with EDB, we are the catalyst
for the adoption of new technologies, research, start
ups and enterprise in the areas indicated. We have systematically
leveraged on the expertise of world class industry partners
to help new market entrants. As these Communities are
hosted at NYP, it provides NYP staff and students valuable
exposure to the latest developments and industry practice
in these emergent areas. The communities presently hosted
by NYP are Security Technology Community, Embedded Systems
Community, MedTech Concept, Games Creation Community,
Wireless Community and IC Design Community. |

We are a change-adept organisation, with proven ability
to respond swiftly with customised services for the specific
needs of industry and organisations. We continue to work
with EDB and IDA to offer customised and specialist manpower
development programmes and have been the key training partner
for MFA in international programmes. We have been requested
repeatedly to share our teaching pedagogy and management
concepts with them in both inbound and outbound programmes
for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam as well as for PRC
government institutes by special invitation of the World
Bank.
Another
example is the programme for Thai teachers. The 2004 Thai
MOE Project for teacher training pooled resources and expertise
from 5 NYP schools and 2 corporate departments to train
719 Thai School teachers in 4 batches in the ICT area. In
Apr 2006, 2 more runs were conducted for 400 Thai teachers
