Tuition Fees for Singaporean Citizens (SC) and Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) are before GST. The Government continues to absorb the GST chargeable on tuition fees payable by SC and SPR students. Tuition Fees for International Students (IS) are inclusive of GST.
Subsidised students are those who are eligible and accepting the MOE Tuition Grant. For details on the scheme, please refer to MOE TG website https://tgonline.moe.gov.sg/.
Tuition fee for Reserved National Servicemen will be based on the year of offer.

Fees Payment Schedule

Fees are billed on a semestral basis.

For fee details and actual amount payable, students can view their online e-Bill at myNYP portal upon receiving the SMS notification that e-Bill is available.

If the fees are not paid by the date stated in the FINAL e-REMINDER, students may be subject to ineligibility for examination/module credits for all modules registered for that semester in accordance with Clause 7.1 of the Assessment (Credit Based) Regulations. Refer to NYP website.

MOE Tuition Grant Scheme

The Singapore Government, through the Ministry of Education (MOE) provides Tuition Grant (TG) to help students with the cost of their full-time tertiary education in Singapore up to a maximum of 10 semesters.

Students who are not eligible or did not accept TG or did not complete the TG Agreement signing by the scheduled dates, will have to pay the unsubsidised course fees (inclusive of prevailing GST rate) for their studies in Nanyang Polytechnic.

For Singapore Permanent Residents or International Students who have received the TG, must be employed full-time in a Singapore entity for 3 years upon graduation to fulfill the bond obligations.

Freshmen Briefing (Virtual)

Read the online Freshmen Briefing slides and complete the online survey. Slides and link will be email to you by 3 May 2024.

STEP 3

Submission of TGonline Application through MOE TG&S System

Online Submission Date :

15 May 2024 to 24 May 2024

You are required to log in using your Singpass and complete your TG application.

STEP 4

Signing of TG Agreement (TGA) online

Students and sureties will be notified via email by MOE to sign the TGA online.

How to apply for GIRO?

Complete the electronic “Application for Interbank GIRO” Form which is available at the online Enrolment system and here. Please note that TRUST accounts are not eligible for GIRO deduction.

2. Print out and sign/thumbprint on the form.

Account holder/Joint Account holder(s) is/are to sign as per the bank’s records.

Account holder is to visit the Bank and get the thumbprint verified.

When and how the GIRO deduction date and amount will be informed?

You will be informed of the GIRO deduction date and total amount payable via the online e-Bill. When the online e-Bill is available for viewing via myNYP Portal, you will be notified by email sent to your NYP Student email address and/or SMS.

The notification will be sent to you at least 10 days before the deduction date.

Company Sponsored Students

Your sponsoring-company is to officially inform NYP’s Admissions Office via NYP_Admissions_Office@nyp.edu.sg 14 days before commencement of the semester. NYP will then bill your company directly.
Please confirm with your sponsoring-company on their subsidy amount. You should still apply the MOE Tuition Grant unless your sponsoring-company instructed that they will pay the unsubsidised course fees.
Please do not apply for any of the Financing Scheme(s) i.e. Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy, Post Secondary Education Account Scheme, CPF Education Loan Scheme, Tuition Fee Loan Scheme, etc.

Change Of Citizenship Status

Semester fees are due and payable by students at the start of the semester. The fees rates payable are based on the citizenship status prevailing at that point in time, if applicable.

Financing Schemes

The sequential order of fees deduction from the schemes are as follows:

Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS)

(This scheme is not applicable to Poly Foundation Programme students.)

Information

The Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS) Scheme is administered by Yayasan Mendaki. It is an education subsidy for Malay students which covers their Tuition Fees.

Eligibility

All full-time subsidised diploma Malay students who are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents with at least one Singaporean citizen parent.
The race or the first component of the double-barrelled race is Malay.
Monthly household per capita income (PCI) does not exceed $2,000.

Note for JPAE (ITE) applicant : If you have earlier establised a standing order (SO) for use of Post Secondary Education Account (PSEA) under ITE, your SO instructions also apply for all future course fees withdrawals in NYP until the SO is terminated or replaced.

Subsidy Value

Up to 100% of Tuition Fees and Supplementary Fees, subject to available balance in PSEA.

This is a loan scheme administered by CPF Board.

Eligibility

All full-time subsidised diploma students who are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents.

Loan Amount

Up to 100 % of Tuition Fee, subject to the available balance in their CPF savings under the education scheme. The scheme does not cover supplementary fees.

Interest Payable

Prevailing CPF Interest rate. Interest will be charged from the time the savings are withdrawn.

Repayment Period and Amount

Maximum of 12 years
Minimum of $100 per month

Commencement of Loan Repayment

1 year after graduation or 1 year from the date of leaving the course, whichever is earlier.

All parties to the application, i.e. student and CPF member must have a SingPass, 2-Step Verification (2FA) and email account before application can be made online.

MOE Tuition Fee Loan (TFL)

Information

To ensure that no students is denied access to Polytechnic education because of financial difficulties, MOE, through Nanyang Polytechnic has made available the Tuition Fee Loan. DBS Bank is the agent bank appointed to administer the Scheme.

Eligibility

All full-time subsidised diploma students.

Loan Amount

Up to a maximum amount of 75% of Tuition Fees. The scheme does not cover supplementary fees.

Interest Rate

MOE TFL is interest-free during the course of study.
The Interest Rate will be set by DBS Bank on 1 April and 1 October each year, based on the sum of

(i) the 3-month compounded Singapore Overnight Rate Average as published by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“SORA”) on 1 March and 1 September of that year; and

(ii) an additional 1.5 percentage points; or

(iii) such other rate(s) as may be determined from time to time by the DBS Bank.

Repayment Period and Amount

Maximum of 10 years
The minimum amount is $100 per month

Commencement of Loan Repayment

1 year after graduation date or date of leaving the course, whichever is earlier.

Government Bursaries

· The type of government bursary that you will be awarded will depend on whether you have met the corresponding income eligibility of the bursary award. You therefore need only to make one application for the different government bursaries – HECB, HEB or DFP Bursary.

· As the majority of full-time subsidised students are eligible for government bursaries, you are highly encouraged to apply for government bursary early in March/April so that your application can be approved in time for settlement of fees as well as be considered for selection for additional ^*top up bursary (private-funded). The selection of candidates for the additional top up bursary (private-funded) may be based on eligibility criteria such as nationality, course of study, financial need, academic performance and conduct.

Private Funded Bursaries, Awards & Grants

· With generous donations from industry partners, charitable organisations and philanthropic individuals, NYP is able to provide financial assistance to needy students in the form of bursaries, awards & grants. Click here to view our donors list.

· For Singaporean full-time subsidised students, if you apply for bursary in application period 3 (ie Sep/Oct), you may be considered by NYP for private funded bursaries of equivalent value to the government bursary, if you meet the donor’s requirements such as nationality, course of study, financial need and academic performance and conduct. If you are awarded with a private funded bursary, you will not receive another government bursary in the same academic year.

· For Singapore Permanent Residents students, you are encouraged to apply for private donor bursaries in application period 3 (ie Sep/Oct).

How to Apply for Government/Private Funded Bursaries

Step 1: Apply Online

a) Apply online through NYP Student Portal* during the application period.

b) Click “Apply Financial Assistance and Awards” -> “Bursaries”.

c) Click “Confirm” to submit your bursary application.

d) Check the acknowledgement email is sent to your NYP email account if you have successfully completed the application. You must upload all the required supporting documents within 5 days from the date of application (using the link in the acknowledgment email or via File Upload System under step 3a)

e) Remain contactable via NYP email or your mobile phone after application and document submission. NYP bursary team will contact you if further clarifications are required.

Important Information

Full-time diploma students who need financial assistance are encouraged to apply for bursary as early as possible. Some private donor bursaries will be available as a top up bursary in early semester 1 (Apr to Jun) and will be awarded to selected government bursary recipients.
Applicants are to submit only ONE application in any application period within the academic year and they are not required to specify the bursary type or bursary name in the application.
Applicants who are successful in their applications will receive only ONE bursary in the academic year, be it a government or private funded bursary.
Successful applicants must either have an existing GIRO arrangement with NYP (with “Approved” status) OR PayNow account (link to student’s NRIC) in order to receive the bursary disbursement.
Bursary award is tenable for one academic year only. Students will have to submit a new application if they wish to be considered for the bursary again in the subsequent academic year.
Students are to remain contactable via NYP email or mobile phone after submission. NYP bursary team will contact you if further clarifications are required.

Study Loan Scheme

Who are eligible and how much can I loan up to?

All full-time subsidised diploma students (not applicable to Polytechnic Foundation Programme students) who are Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Singapore with gross monthly household per capita income ≤ $2,700 can apply for the loan which comprises of TWO components:

Component A: A loan of up to 25% of tuition fees payable

Student must already be on one of the following 4 schemes to cover at least 75% of tuition fees:

Component B: A loan of up to $2,000 for any 2 consecutive semesters to meet living expenses

Applications for Component B alone are permissible only if tuition fees have been paid in full. If you have tuition fees of up to 25% still owing to the Polytechnic at the point of application for the above, you will have to apply for Component A first before applying for Component B.

Will I be charged interest?

Your family income determines which loan (interest-free/with interest) you will be awarded.

Interest on the Tier 2 loan will be charged upon graduation at the same rate as the Tuition Fee Loan Scheme. The interest rate will be set by DBS Bank on 1 April and 1 October each year, based on the sum of:

What is the repayment period and when do I start to pay?

Repayment may be made in one lump sum or by equal monthly instalments comprising both principal and interest and payment of the lump sum or first monthly instalment shall be made not later than 2 years from the date that interest is first chargeable on the Loan.

The maximum repayment period in respect of the loans under the 2-tier loan system is:
Tier 1 (interest-free): 2 years
*Tier 2 (with interest): 5 years

The minimum monthly instalment payment is $100. The late payment interest rate will be set by DBS Bank on 1 April and 1 October each year, based on the sum of:

(i) the 3-month compounded Singapore Overnight Rate Average as published by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“SORA”) on 1 March and 1 September of that year; and

(ii) an additional 4.5 percentage points; or

(iii) such other rate(s) as may be determined from time to time by the DBS Bank.

If a student leaves the Polytechnic without completing the course of study, the loan amount will immediately become due and payable. He may repay the outstanding sum by monthly instalments on such terms and conditions as the Polytechnic may, on a case-by-case basis, determine.

The repayment of instalment amounts shall be made through Interbank GIRO.

Needy NYP students could apply for Financial Assistance for Notebook Purchases.

Depending on your study stage (newly enrolled or Year 2/3) and nationality, different application process and funding - Opportunity Fund Scheme or IMDA Programme - will apply.

The amount of subsidy for notebook purchase would be dependent on applicant’s family/household income & nationality, and could be up to 90% of the notebook purchase price (before GST).

For those applying under Opportunity Fund Scheme, kindly note that this is NOT a reimbursement scheme. Please do not place an online order on the vendor’s website until you have received the approval email of your application sent to your NYP email account.

Overseas Programme Funding

Funding support that is provided to NYP students in overseas programmes could be either specific to the type of overseas trips or targeted at needy students:

Programme-specific funding. Internships and immersion trips primarily to ASEAN, China and India are supported via external funding of Enterprise Singapore’s Global Ready Talent (GRT) Programme; and National Youth Council’s (NYC) Asia-Ready Exposure Programme (AEP).
Neediness-based funding. The Financial Assistance Scheme for Overseas Programme (FASOP) utilises MOE’s Opportunity Fund and NYP’s internal funding to make available subsidy to all NYP students. The Global Entrepreneurship Award (GEA) encourages students to participate in Innovation & Enterprise-related internship in developed countries. The amount of funding is dependent on student’s family financial status as well as student’s nationality and overseas programme type.
