Introduction to NYP

Nanyang Polytechnic is a modern tertiary institution dedicated to meeting the manpower needs of Singapore and the aspirations of our students.

Established in 1992, the history of NYP goes back to the late ’70s and early ’80s – the days of the French-Singapore Institute (FSI), German-Singapore Institute (GSI), Japan-Singapore Institute (JSI) and Precision Engineering Institute (PEI). These institutes of technology were transferred from the Economic Development Board (EDB) to Nanyang Polytechnic to become part of our School of Engineering. We have a long tradition of working in partnership with industry and educational institutions.

These partnerships have grown stronger over the years, adding value to our teaching and learning. Today, NYP has seven Schools offering a wide range of courses in Engineering, Information Technology, Design, Interactive & Digital Media, Chemical & Life Sciences, Business Management and Health Sciences. These courses cater to students seeking a quality polytechnic education and to working professionals looking at upgrading opportunities.
