Dear Students,
Happy Lunar New Year to all our Chinese students.
This is the year of the Dragon. You will see many lanterns and Chinese decorations in the shape of a dragon along Chinatown. If you are planning to join in the hustle and bustle of the festive shopping, you can take a train down to Chinatown station which is right in the heart of Chinatown. A good time to go to Chinatown is in the evening, the streets will be packed with people and you can also enjoy the Chinese New year light-up as well. There will be lots of snacks, sweets and food.

The most exciting part of the Chinese New Year Celebrations in Singapore is the River Hongbao (http://www.riverhongbao.sg/). There will be lots of food stall, activities and even fireworks. The River Hongbao is from 21 to 29 January 2012 so don’t miss out the fun and spectacles.
If you are going down to Chinatown this Chinese New Year, do share some of your photos with your fellow students in NYP via the OIS website.Chinese New Year falls on 23 and 24 January, it is also a public holiday so take this opportunity to enjoy a long weekend. However, do remember to stock up on your snacks and food because most shops will not be open from 22 to 24 January.
From all the staff in OIS, we wish you a good and fulfilling 2012,
Regards
OIS
