Tuition Fees

• How much is the tuition fee?

  International students who are awarded and accept the Tuition Grant will pay subsidised fees for their courses. Those who are not awarded the Tuition Grant will have to pay the full tuition fees. Please refer to here for the amount of tuition fees. Please refer to here for the details of Tuition Grant Scheme.

• Does NYP provide any financial assistance?

  Currently, only limited scholarships are being offered to international students by certain government agencies. It is important that students have the financial resources to support themselves during the course of their study and stay in Singapore. Please refer to here for more information on scholarships, loans and bursaries.

Student Pass

• How do I apply for a Student Pass?

  Please refer to the section on "Student Pass".

• How do I extend my Student Pass which will expire soon?

  If Student Pass expires before the “expected date of completion” of the diploma course (typically around March), student can go to the Student Service Centre (SSC) at Block A, level 2 to apply for the extension.   International students who are graduating may wish to apply for the 1-year (non-renewable) Long Term Visit Pass (LT-VP) prior to the expiry of the Student's Pass to continue staying here and seeking employment after their graduation. Accommodation 

• Does NYP find / provide accommodation for international Students.

  NYP does not provide hostel accommodation. Students are strongly encouraged to make their own accommodation arrangements. Onus will be on students to check on the suitability, reliability and fees chargeable by whichever agencies that they may choose, to help them with their accommodation arrangements in Singapore.   Please refer to the section on "Accommodation Guide" for more information. You may also want to use the OIS fourm to search for potential rooms / house vacancies or roommates.

Medical Examination  

• Do I need to go for a medical examination?

  If Student Pass expires before the “expected date of completion” of the diploma course (typically around March), student can go to the Student Service Centre (SSC) at Block A, level 2 to apply for the extension.   The offer of admission is conditional upon the successful applicant clearing his/her medical examination by a Singapore-registered medical practitioner. Should the applicant be certified unfit for the posted course, NYP is not obliged to transfer him/her to another course, although it will try its best to do so. In the event that it is not possible to offer the applicant an alternative course, NYP cannot be held responsible for any expenses whatsoever, incurred by the applicant in coming to and leaving Singapore.

Transportation

• How do I travel from Changi Airport to my apartment?

  Changi Airport is connected to the rest of Singapore by public buses, taxis, shuttle buses and MRT. For more information, please visit Changi Airport website.

Insurance

• What are the insurance schemes in NYP?

  Please refer to the section on "International Students Insurance".

Part-time work

• Am I allowed to work during my studies?

  Full time diploma students are allowed to work part-time of up to 16 hours per week during school term and work full time during vacation as the Ministry of Manpower has exempted them from applying for work permits. There is no necessity to obtain any permission from the Polytechnics.

Advance Standing

• Are NYP diplomas recognised by Singapore universities and foreign universities?

  NYP’s diplomas are internationally recognised by both local and foreign universities. Please refer to the listing of universities ofering exemptions or advanced standings to NYP graduates.
