Li Jing (from China) - School of Engineering

Since I joined NYP more than 2 years ago, I have had a very fruitful study life here. In the first 2 years at NYP, we acquire the fundamental knowledge relevant to our course. In the final year, we get to further develop our knowledge by choosing a specialisation. There is also a 3-month industry attachment and a final year project for us to put our knowledge to test.

I've been in Singapore for almost 3 years. During this period, I've learned a lot of things. I particularly cherish the experience I've gained from participating in the various CCAs. I am the secretary in the NYP Care and Share Group committee, where I have opportunities to work with other members on social service projects such as visits to old folks' home and social gathering with the disabled. I really enjoy the fruitful life here!

I am a third year engineering student in NYP. When I first came to NYP, I felt immediately the personal and familiar atmosphere of its studying community. My classmates as well as the professors were very supportive. This is one of the big advantages of NYP I want to mention particularly because it helps foreign students to feel integrated quickly. Secondly, I highly recommend the courses offered in NYP. With a belief in the importance of investing in a good education, I am sure NYP will be one of the highlights in your personal education.

When I was an SAE student, I used to be sceptical about how NYP could benefit me in the long run. Now that I have been here as a Digital Media Design student for 3 years, I am rather impressed with the programmes provided. Indeed, the knowledge I learned from the modules is so relevant and solid that I have been commissioned with design jobs from the industry even before graduation. After all these years at NYP, I will never forget my friends and the fond memories of my student life here!

My life at NYP is full of fond memories. Although the work can be very tough at times, there are always supportive friends and dedicated lecturers to help me pull through the difficult times. Being in the Stage Arts CCA for a year has helped build my confidence. I have learned more about stage craft as well. I have made many friends and we have shared a lot of fun times and hardships together.

I am really grateful to have the opportunity to study in Singapore. Staying far apart from my beloved family, I learned how to live independently in this foreign country. How time flies! It's just like yesterday when I first walked into the NYP campus! Now I am already a Year 3 student. Undoubtedly, the short but exciting NYP experience will be unforgettable. In our innovative polytechnic, I have learnt the relevant knowledge and made so many friends. Moreover, NYP helped me to understand the Singapore culture much better. I am thankful to the dedicated lecturers and mentors here. Their guidance has been precious and helpful in many ways. That is why I did not feel lonely although the environment was totally new to me.
