AF student emerged as 1st Runner-Up @ 14th Start-up@Singapore Business Venture Competition 

   

 

6 students from Diploma in Accountancy & Finance emerged as 1st Runner-Up in the Youth Category (out of 467 teams) @ 14th Start-up@Singapore Business Venture Competition on 25 May 2013.

 

Start-Up@Singapore is a prestigious, world-class business plan competition that aims to be the beacon for start-ups on their road to success.

 

 

SW student honoured by International Gymnastics Federation

   

Terry Tay, a third-year Diploma in Sport & Wellness Management student, has recently been honoured with a gymnastics move (the “Tay”) named after him by the International Gymnastics Federation, Federation Internationale De Gymnastique (FIG).

SBM outstanding students awarded scholarship by MOE in South Korea

   

Nazreen Banu Binte Mohamed Nasir Khan, a third year student from Diploma in Fund Management & Administration, and Yap Wai Kit, a second year student from Diploma in Banking & Financial Services were awarded the Global Korea Scholarship in 2013.

 

This prestigious scholarship is an initiative of the Ministry of Education in South Korea to award foreign students who excel academically, to have the opportunity to pursue undergraduate studies in South Korea.

 

Based on their outstanding academic performance and active participation in co-curricular activities, Nazreen and Wai Kit were awarded the scholarship to study in Kyung Hee University from Sep-Dec 2013.

 

 

 

SCM Students Emerge Runners-Up in Asia Pacific Supply Chain Management Competition 2013

   

Our team of Supply Chain Management ("SCM") students beat teams from other local polytechnics as well as Asian universities to emerge first runner-up in the Asia Pacific Supply Chain Management Competition 2013.

 

The team comprising of 3rd year students Andhika, Jonathan Djulamsah and Nigel Anthony Lee impressed the judges with their solution for tackling the manpower problems faced by food courts for their dishwashing operations.  The team was mentored by senior lecturer Ong Wee Min.

 

  

 

Shell LiveSPARK Award 2013

   

Second year Diploma in Business Management student, Chan Ying Ying emerged as one of three merit winners for the post-secondary school category in the awards. Ying Ying is already running a business providing customised leather products like diaries, phone cases and name card holders. She believes in social entrepreneurship, so she hires hearing-impaired staff to work for her.

 

Shell LiveSPARK awards aims to recognize students who has demonstrated keen interest in entrepreneurship and track record in entrepreneurship programs/activities, such as participation in entrepreneurship competition, workshop, and bazaar, or simply helping friends or family running a business.

 

 

 

 

 

Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIMS) International Marketing Competition 2013

 

   

On 16th November 2013, 6 third year students from the Diploma in Marketing competed at the Finals of Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIMS) International Marketing Competition 2013 and received a Bronze Award in the Local Category.

 

This competition is an annually held event open to universities and polytechnic students in Singapore, as well as Institute of Higher Learning from overseas. For added realism, competitors are invited to submit industry ready ideas or company-sponsored projects. The purpose of the competition is to inculcate a greater awareness of the importance of marketing amongst students.
