NYP-ACCA to offer New Fast-Track Upgrading Programme to Accountancy & Finance Students


ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and NYP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a new fast-track route that will allow diploma students studying accountancy to work towards acquiring the prestigious ACCA professional accounting qualification, even before they graduate.


NYP’s Diploma in Accountancy and Finance students will have to opportunity to take the new ACCA Accelerated Pathway Programme (AAPP) and be exempted from the first six papers (F1 to F6) of the Fundamentals level of the ACCA professional qualification. Students who meet the necessary criteria will be able attempt papers F7 and F8 while still studying for their diplomas at NYP. 




Awards & Achievements


SBM Banking & FInancial Services students win CME Trading Challenge 2016 - WORLD CHAMPION



A team of three Year 3 students from the Diploma in Banking & Financial Services , emerged World Champions for the CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) Group 2016 Trading Challenge, beating more than 500 teams from 200 universities globally.  This is the first time a Singaporean team has won the competition.


NYP's Team Alpha achieved more than 100% returns over a span of two weeks on an initial notional capital of US$250K, ending with a final simulated account balance of $500,018.75. Carnegie Mellon University (US) came in second place with a balance of $443,430.00, while Concordia University (Canada) came in third with a balance of $355,750.00.


The four-week electronic trading competition is open exclusively to teams of currently enrolled graduate and undergraduate students, offering them a chance to learn hands-on techniques for trading futures across all major asset classes on CQG, a real-time professional trading platform. 

SBM graduate awarded the International High Achievers Scholarship from UNSW Australia Business School


NYP SBM is proud to have our Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management graduate Shariffah Allisa Binte Fauzi ALKAFF to be awarded the International High Achievers Scholarship from UNSW Australia Business School in Semester 1 2016


The UNSW Australia Business School International high-achievers scholarship is designed for outstanding international students and graduates from UNSW’s partner institutions in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. The scholarship is valued at AUD$10,000 each.


Shariffah is our Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management with Merit graduate from Class of 2014.  She is a bright and diligent student, achieving a total of 14 "A''s and 2 Distinctions.  She has also received the Director's list four times during her three years in the Polytechnic.

Diploma in Marketing Graduate starts Indonesian Food Chain



Mr Edy Ongkowijaya, a marketing graduate from SBM – Diploma in Marketing, has started his own Indonesia Food Chain – Dapur Penyet.


Over the years, the business has grown and Dapur Penyet has multiple outlets in heartland areas such as Clementi, Tiong Bahru and others.
