FINANCIAL MARKETS & INSTRUMENTS [30 hours]
This module provides students with the specialised knowledge in financial markets. Topics covered include different financial markets, various types of issue methods and trading mechanism, time value of money as well as financial statement analysis. Upon completion of this module, participants will gain competencies in carrying out ratio analysis and Dupont analysis.
FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS [30 hours]
This module provides students with the specialised knowledge in financial instruments. Topics covered include different financial instruments, as well as fixed income valuation and equity valuation. Upon completion of this module, participants will gain competencies in analysing the risk and return of various financial instruments and fixed income valuation and equity valuation.
ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS [30 hours]
This module provides participants with an overview of investments and financial products beyond the traditional space and an understanding of commodities, managed futures, credit derivatives, private equity, real estate and hedge funds. The various types of hedge funds, common strategies adopted and current market trends will also be covered.
INVESTMENT ANALYSIS & PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT [45 hours]
This module covers the fundamentals of investment management such as modern portfolio theory, capital asset pricing model, technical analysis & behavioural finance as well as active portfolio management. Participants will get an insight into how fund managers set investment objectives and policies, decide on asset allocation and carry out performance measurement and attribution.
FUND FUNDAMENTALS [30 hours]
This module provides students with an overview of the fund management industry. Topics covered include the process of setting up funds in Singapore, fund structures, regulatory framework in relation to Anti-Money Laundering as well as professional ethics governing the industry. In addition, students will also explore and current global regulatory issues and key issues and their impact on fund administrators. Upon completion of the module, students will have a good understanding of the fund management landscape.
FUND ADMINISTRATION [30 hours]
This module provides students with an understanding of the fund accounting and administration process, in the fund management industry. Topics covered include concepts and principles of fund accounting, NAV preparation process and corporate actions. In addition, students will learn to draft NAV Internal Control Checklists, taking into account funds’ investment objectives and constraints. Upon completion of the module, students will have the necessary competencies to support and provide fund accounting and administration services in an asset management environment.
GLOBAL SECURITIES OPERATIONS [30 hours]
This module will enable participants to understand the main players in the funds and securities industry, their operational roles and the processes involved in securities transactions. Participants will learn about various financial instruments, corporate actions, settlements, custody and client servicing. Value-added services such as cash management and securities lending will be covered so that participants understand the entire value chain of funds and securities operations.
RISK MANAGEMENT & COMPLIANCE MONITORING [45 hours]
The module covers the various key risks encountered in the financial services sector and in particular, the investment management and services industry. Participants will be taught the various stages of the risk management process and risk mitigation strategies. In addition, participants will learn about key elements of effective compliance monitoring assessment and design, its implementation as well as compliance monitoring performance improvement for good corporate governance.
