When & Where?
  • 6th to 7th Apr 2017
  • 8:30am to 6:00pm daily
  • Report to Block P1, Convention Centre on 6th Apr 2017
  • Dress Code: Sports Attire (avoid bringing bulky bags)

 

What is expected?
  • Interactions with your Personal Mentor and your classmates.
  • Sharing of important academic and administrative information to prepare you for the new semester by your PEM.
  • Fun-filled activities promoting class bonding and familiarization of campus facilities.
  • Free NYP T-shirt and goodies bag.
  • Attractive prizes to be won!

Academic matters

Note: Some of the following services may only be available for login at later date

  1. Student Portal
    The myNYP Portal is for you to assess various e-services such as timetable, exam results, statement of absence, application of financial assistance etc.

    Login ID: Admin number
    Default password: First 6 digits of NRIC/ FIN no. (eg 812345)

    Pls change your password after first login. You can also download NYP mobile app (for students) on your smart phones.

  2. NYP Email
    For the first time login to NYP Email (via student portal), you will be asked to input:
    Login ID: Admin number (uppercase)

    Default password:
    Singaporeans:  <IC Number> with Alphabet both in Front and Behind (upper case) prefix with “aZ” e.g. aZS1234567A

    Foreign students: Either <IC Number> or <Passport Number> prefix with “aZ” e.g. aZ987654321.

  3. Blackboard
    Blackboard is a online platform where you can download lecture notes, tutorial and other study materials.

    Login ID: Admin number
    Default password: First 6 digits of NRIC/ FIN no. (eg 812345)

    You can also download Blackboard Mobile LearnTM app on your smart phones. 

Course Timetable

To print your timetable, you can go to myNYP Portal> Academic Matters > Module Timetable> View Individual Module Timetable.

General Studies Module: Fitness for Life (CLx102)

ALL year 1 students belonging to the following programmes need to register:

  • Biologics & Process Technology (Programme 2)
  • Chemical & Green Technology (Programme 2)
  • Chemical & Pharmaceutical Technology (Programme 2)
  • Medicinal Chemistry
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences

Note: If your diploma course is not listed here, no registration is required as you will only take this module in Semester 2.

NYP Student Admin Card

  • You will be issued a Student Admin Card on the first day of Orientation.
  • As a NYP student, you must carry this card at all times when you are in campus.
  • This card is also used to gain access to lecture theatres, labs and has to be produced for identification during class tests and examinations.

Purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • You must purchase PPE BEFORE school starts because you will need it during laboratory lessons.
  • You may purchase the PPE from the Popular Bookstore (Blk A Level 1) in NYP.
  • The complete set of PPE will include the following:
 

Note for students enrolled in the Diploma in Food Science & Nutrition:

In addition to the above set of PPEs, you are also required to purchase a Blue Lab Coat separately.

Freshmen & Parents’ Forum

Attendance is COMPULSORY for all students, but OPTIONAL for parents/guardians.

WHEN: 21st April 2017; 7:00-8:30pm

WHERE: Blk S, Level 2, LTS-1 and LTS-2  (Chemical Tech Students)

                Blk Q, Level 1, LTQ-3/4/5/6 (Life Science Students)

WHAT:

  • Provide you with information on course matters, exam matters, grading system etc.
  • Help your parent/guardian(s) understand what is expected of you in the poly so that they can better support you.
  • An invitation form will be given to you during the first day of Orientation. You must ask your parents/guardians to complete the form and return it to your mentor on day 2 of the orientation.

Notebook Road Show

It is necessary for all students to have a notebook as it is needed for lessons, e-learning and projects.

Ans: Yes. For all students (“O” levels leavers, PFP, ITE, International students) enrolled in SCL diplomas
