Imagine Cup Singapore 2017 Champion
Nanyang Polytechnic emerged champion at the Microsoft Imagine Cup Singapore 2017. Our interdisciplinary trio, Team HeartSound, impressed the panel of judges with their smart stethoscope. The device combines the function of both a stethoscope and an electrocardiography (ECG) machine into a small wearable device which helps monitor for abnormal sounds in the heart. Users can track their own heart conditions at home, without the need for additional medical training or knowledge. The device is also able to send captured data to doctors when abnormal conditions are flagged. Into its 15th edition, this year's Imagine Cup Singapore competition received 67 entries. Six teams from Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore and NYP made to the finals, where our team emerged triumphant. The NYP team was mentored by Mdm Lam Kwai Fern and Mr Liaw Sze Wong.
