Launched by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) with support from EDB, Enterprise Singapore and SSG, the programme helps employees stay relevant by enhancing their technical capabilities and training them to be higher achievers. Employees are armed with the skills and knowledge they need to support their company's drive towards higher productivity and competitiveness - essentials for success in today's global PE landscape.

WSQ Diploma in Precision Engineering (Master Craftsman Skills)

Manage Manufacturing Productivity Improvement

Upon completion, participants should be able to understand, improve and optimize the production activities involving processes and systems to increase overall productivity of the manufacturing operations.

Apply Productivity Improvement Tools
Upon completion, participants should have the knowledge and skills to be able to identify and apply the appropriate tools, techniques or processes to improve productivity at the workplace.

Apply Mathematical Concepts in Engineering Solutions

Upon completion, participants should have the essential knowledge and analytical skills in mathematical concepts to solve engineering problems at the workplace.

Apply Mechanics in Design Solutions
Upon completion, participants should have the knowledge, understanding & skills in the principles of engineering mechanics to be able to apply the concepts in solving engineering design solutions.

Apply Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Techniques
Upon completion, participants should be able to perform product design, development and manufacturing activities using 3D CAD solid modelling system and techniques to design 3D solid model.

Apply Mechanical Fixture Design
Upon completion, participants should be able to develop the knowledge and skills required to design or draw a Mechanical Design Fixture Assembly for manufacturing.

Apply Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Techniques
Upon completion, participants should be able to generate efficient and optimised CNC machining tool paths for various types of work pieces using knowledge & skills in CAM programming techniques.

Apply Advanced CNC Machining
Upon completion, participants should be able to setup, operate and optimise advanced CNC turning & milling machines to perform multi-task, multi-axis machining of complex components and apply work holdings & fixturing techniques to optimize machining outputs.

Apply Advanced Toolroom Machining
Upon completion, participants should be able to setup, operate and optimise advanced toolroom machines for machining of complex components.

Apply Process Optimisation & Cutting Techniques
Upon completion, participants should be able to apply cutting strategies and technologies to optimise machining processes for materials used in mould & tool making and precision component manufacturing.

Manage Engineering Project (CAM & CNC Machining)
Upon completion, participants should be able to plan and execute CAM & CNC machining projects, leveraging on the technical knowledge & skills acquired.

Advanced Mould Design & Process Elective

Apply Advanced Mould Design
Upon completion, participants should be able to apply advanced mould temperature control methods such as conformal cooling and rapid tooling for advanced mould design applications.

Apply Advanced Mould Flow Simulation
Upon completion, participants should have knowledge and hands-on skills to be able to use simulation software to perform plastic flow simulation to optimize plastics injection moulding process.

Apply Plastics Injection Moulding
Upon completion, participants should have in-depth knowledge and skills of injection moulding machines & moulding processes to perform process optimization, process control, automation and integration for modern injection moulding environment.

Apply Plastics Material Technologies
Upon completion, participants should have in-depth knowledge on the property, selection and applications of polymer materials, and be able to conduct material testing experiments.

Manage Engineering Project (Mould Design & Process)
Upon completion, participants should be able to plan and execute Mould Design & Process projects, leveraging on the technical knowledge & skills acquired.

Apply Solid Modelling & Drafting for Machine Parts
Upon completion, participant should be able to apply CAD solid modelling techniques and CAD drafting technologies to design machine parts and system

Apply Mechanical Components & Peripherals in Automated Equipment
Upon completion, participant should be able to design and support maintenance of automated machines using various types of machine elements commonly used in automated assembly systems.

Apply Automation Control for Machines
Upon completion, participant should have the knowledge & skills of pneumatics and electro-pneumatics control devices and programmable logic control (PLC), for application in automatic control system.

Apply Project Management in Equipment Building
Upon completion, participants should be able to manage machine building projects from the conceptualisation stage to the implementation of the entire machine.

Manage Engineering Project (Equipment Building & Automation)
Upon completion, participants should be able to plan and execute Equipment Building & Automation projects, leveraging on the technical knowledge & skills acquired.

WSQ Specialist Diploma in Precision Engineering (Master Craftsman Skills)

Apply Advanced Metrology & Statistics
Upon completion, participant should be able to perform advanced metrology measurement using various precision metrology equipment and be able to measure and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) symbols as well as to perform statistical process control.

Apply Advanced Materials Technology
Upon completion, participants should be able to perform mechanical testing, metallography and heat treatment with understanding of physical and mechanical properties of engineering materials to be able to select appropriate materials for engineering applications.

Apply Advanced Manufacturing Technology & Process
Upon completion, participants should be able to optimise machining process involving non-traditional machining and advanced manufacturing technology in areas such as Laser Beam Machining and Ultrasonic Machining.

Apply Pedagogy Methodology for the Workplace Part 1
Upon completion, participants should be able to determine training needs analysis for workplace training with an understanding of adult learning theories and approaches in train-the-trainer programme.

Apply Pedagogy Methodology for the Workplace Part 2
Upon completion, participants should be able to plan, design and implement train-the-trainer programme, leveraging on IT tools for effective learning and be able to evaluate training outcomes.

Manage Shopfloor Monitoring & Process
Upon completion, participant should be able to applystructured approach of project management techniques to efficiently manage projects, and to apply shop floor and process monitoring tool to better manage shop floor related issues and process.

Certification

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) is awarded by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) upon successful completion of each module. The WSQ DPE MCS and the WSQ SDPE MCS are awarded when participants attain competencies in the 11 modules and the 6 modules respectively.

Precision Engineering Master Craftsman Certification

The Precision Engineering Master Craftsman Certification serves as an industry recognition scheme that aims to elevate the standard of precision engineering craftsmanship in Singapore. Existing craftsmen with at least 4 years of relevant experience in the PE industry are eligible for the certification. One of the requirements of the certification includes the successful completion of a 2 years part-time PeMC programme conducted by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP).

The Precision Engineering Master Craftsman Certification is administered by Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF).
