Microsoft Imagine Cup 2017

Nanyang Polytechnic Team HeartSound did NYP proud by emerging champions of this year’s Microsoft Imagine Cup 2017 (Singapore). The Microsoft sponsored competition is held annually to encourage potential young technologists to create applications that shape how we live, work and play. This year’s competition attracted 67 proposals, where 16 Semi-finalists were selected, followed by 6 finalist for the National Finals. The NYP team comprising of SIT student Sean Wong Chun Foh, and SEG students, Chew Zhi Qi and Lian Min won the judges over with their innovative project S3. Their project revolved around the creation of a smart stethoscope that diagnosed cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease and stroke, which addresses one of the top health problems that modern day society grapples with.
The NYP team will now compete regionally for a spot at the World Finals and will represent Singapore in Manila, Philippines at the South East Asia Regional Finals on 23 to 26 April 2017. There they will compete with the rest of the Winners in South East Asia.
