Diploma Plus Programme

The following Diploma-Plus modules are offered to students who are currently pursuing a Full-Time diploma from the School of Information Technology:

  • ITA231 - Advanced Java Enterprise Development (60 hours)

    This module will impart necessary technical skills for you to undertake application development using IBM Rational Application Developer tools which involves design, implementation, testing, debugging and deployment of Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) applications and Java applications.  The topics covered will also give you an overview of applications that make use of Servlets, JavaServer Pages (JSPs), HTML, and JDBC technology.

     

    Students can attempt IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) certification upon completion of this Dip-Plus module.

  • ITA234 - Advanced Web Development (.NET) (60 hours)

    Upon completion of this module, you will be proficient in enterprise web application development using the ASP.NET and the .NET Framework.  Topics covered will enable you to understand essential techniques required for building applications for real-world scenarios.  Skills such as configuring and implementing web applications using master pages, themes and MVC, developing and using web form controls for user validation and page layout, implementing globalization, client side scripting and AJAX, debugging web applications and displaying and manipulating data will also be taught.

     

    Students can attempt the MCTS: Microsoft .NET Framework, Web Applications Development certification upon completion of this Dip-Plus module.

  • ITA235 - Advanced Database Administration (MS-SQL) - ADVSQL (60 hours)

    Upon the completion of this module, you would have mastered the practical skills and techniques required to administer relational databases commonly used in the industry.  The skills gained will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed by database administrators to effectively perform database administration and management tasks.  You will also learn how to install, configure, create and control databases, administer users and perform other administrative and management functions.

     

    Students can attempt the MCTS: Microsoft SQL Server, Implementation and Maintenance certification upon completion of this Dip-Plus module.

  • ITA236 – Business Intelligence and Big Data - BIZBD (30 hours)

    This module will equip you with knowledge on the technologies, application and practices of Business Intelligence and also how Big Data is being used in Business Intelligence. You will learn how to use the IBM Cognos Report Studio to prepare Business Intelligence Reports and to understand and appreciate concept in Big Data.

     

    Students can attempt IBM Cognos – Report Studio Certification upon completion of this Dip-Plus module.

  • ITA237 – Machine Data Analytics and Operational Intelligence- MDAOI (60 hours)

    This module introduces the concept of machine data, and illustrates the analytic techniques on these data to gain operational insights. Concepts of knowledge managements and common administrative tasks involved in managing industrial solutions at enterprise level are also included.

     

    Students can attempt Splunk Certified Admin certifications upon completion of this Dip-Plus module.

  • ITA238 – Cyber Security Essentials - CYBSEC (30 hours)

    This module equips you with knowledge on the essential technologies, applications and practices that encompass Cyber Security in the modern enterprise.  Topics covered will include cybersecurity concepts, security architecture principles, security network systems, applications and data. 

     

    Students can attempt Cyber Security Fundamentals Certification by ISACA upon completion of this Dip-Plus module.

  • ITA311 - Linux System Essentials - LINUXS (60 hours)

    This module will equip you with the skills required to navigate and operate within a Linux operating environment, through commands and GUI utilities. You will be able to understand the Linux file systems structure; open, edit, and save text documents using the vi editor; understand users, groups and file access permissions; use I/O redirection and pipes; investigate and manage processes;  use network utilities and use system configuration and administration tools. This module is also a pre-requisite for ITA321 – Enterprise Linux.
  • ITA323 - Advanced Networking - ADVNET (60 hours)

    This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills to deploy, maintain, secure and operate a medium-sized network using Cisco technologies. It comprises both an integrated and comprehensive coverage of networking topics, from fundamentals to advanced applications and services, and opportunities for hands-on practical experiences and soft-skills development. You will be able to install, configure and operate LAN, WAN for small and medium networks, including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, VLANs, STP, VTP, Ethernet, Access Lists, wireless technologies and network security.

     

    Students can take up Cisco Certified Networking Associate certification (CCNA) upon completion of this Dip-Plus module.

  • ITA103 - Applied Calculus - APPCAL (30 hours)

    Upon the completion of this module, you would have gained the necessary mathematical skills and knowledge that will adequately prepare you for further studies. Topics covered will include limits of functions, derivatives and its applications (including concavity), integration techniques (including trigonometric substitutions and improper integrals) and its applications.


    Students who complete this module can move on to ITA105– Advanced Calculus. This module forms 1 of 3 Mathematics modules that will enable NYP students to be exempted from the Mathematics Proficiency Test in NUS and NTU, for specific degree programmes. To be exempted, students must have sat and passed ITA103, ITA104 and ITA105.

  • ITA104 - Analytical Geometry - ANAGEO (30 hours)

    Upon the completion of this module, you would have gained the necessary mathematical skills and knowledge that will adequately prepare you for further studies. Topics covered include functions and graphs, inequalities, conic sections, plane curves, polar coordinates, vectors, sequences and series.


    Students who complete this module can move on to ITA103 – Applied Calculus. This module forms the 1 of 3 Mathematics modules that will enable NYP students to be exempted from the Mathematics Proficiency Test in NUS and NTU, for specific degree programmes. To be exempted, students must have sat and passed ITA103, ITA104 and ITA105.

  • ITA105 - Advanced Calculus - ADVCAL (60 hours)

    Upon the completion of this module, you would have gained the necessary mathematical skills and knowledge that will adequately prepare you for further studies. Topics covered include functions of several variables, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, infinite sequences and series, test of convergence for series.


    This module forms the final Mathematics module that will enable NYP students to be exempted from the Mathematics Proficiency Test in NUS and NTU, for specific degree programmes. To be exempted, students must have sat and passed ITA103, ITA104 and ITA105.
