Innovative Teaching & Learning

The School adopts the modular and credit-based system of NYP. The course involves a combination of lectures, laboratory practicals, assignments, tutorials, student presentations, goal-oriented self learning including e-learning, project work and case study-based discussion.

Our lectures will be supplemented by seminars conducted by invited guest speakers of international standing. Field trips to chemical complexes, pharmaceutical plants and research institutes will also provide a rich learning experience for our students.

Training in the latest technologies will be conducted in modern and state-of-the-art laboratories. Under the NYP's Industrial Attachment Programme, students gain invaluable first-hand working experience of the Chemical and Life Sciences industry even before they graduate.

Students taking the Diploma in Chemical Pharmaceutical Technology course will be attached to the Chemical Process Technology Centre (which is operated and managed by NYP) at Jurong Island for enhancement training on actual plant operations - including start-up and shut-down of a live industrial scale process plant. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to be innovative, analytical, independent thinkers with a developmental mindset. This is fostered through the application of case studies, industrial attachments and in-house projects. As Chemical Life Sciences is multi-disciplinary, students will also be challenged to think creatively across other disciplines.
