Code::XtremeApps::2009 Competition

 Team "Dream Machine" comprising 3 students from Diploma in Multimedia & Infocomm Technology. Colin Pang DaoJian, Lee Yu Kai and Justin Toh have proven their prowess in programming at the code::XtremeApps::2009 competition held from 11-12 July 2009. They are the CHAMPION in the National Infocomm Competition Category!

Competitors in this competition had to build an innovative and useful application within 24 hours. For this year's competition, participants were required to come up with an innovative way to educate the public about the benefits of healthy living and the harmful effects of smoking. Some 119 teams took part in this competition and 17 teams were selected for final judging on 17 July 2009.

Said Colin Pang, team leader of winning team ‘Dream Machine’, “What I’ve learnt most about this competition is the importance of perseverance: you never know just how much you can achieve within 24 hours, and the results will amaze you.” The team came up with a suite of healthcare programs for mobile phones based on the Google Android platform. They worked non-stop for 24 hours, and kept awake with a diet of Red Bull drinks, sweets and biscuits.

This event, organized by the IT Standards Committee (ITSC) with the support of IDA, aims to create greater awareness on the use and value of standards in programming, while also promoting computer education and cultivating programming talent and interest in Singapore.

Well Done, and congratulations to the 'Dream Machine" team.
