Students from Diploma in Electronics, Computer & Communications Engineering (DECC) made its mark in the annual IES Design Award once again, clinching a Silver & a Merit award.
The silver award was clinched by Lin Lin, Yu Zhaoxin & Zhu Ying, and project mentor, Wong Chee Chein from Embedded Technology Centre.
The Winning Team from Diploma in Electronics, Computer & Communications Engineering , Yu Zhao Xin , Lin Lin and Zhu Ying.
The invention is a novel software solution to enable Blissymbols user to speed up the process of entering Blissymbols into a computer system using handwriting. It is designed with an intelligent Blissymbols Recognition System to assist Blissymbols user. This device helps Blissymbols users like cerebral palsy individuals, autistic kids and their care-givers/teachers who need to use Blissymbols to communicate better and more effectively.
Project “BLink” (A novel software solution for Blissymbols users)
The merit award was clinched by the another team of DECC students that submitted the project "POT-D". The team members are Chua Hong Wei, Tan Chan Hong, Muhammad Ridzuan Bin Salleh & Ng Wen Bin and the project mentor is Malcolm Murugan from Embedded Technology Centre.
Their invention helps the elderly in dispensing medication by using a novel design. It ensures that users will not accidently drop the tablets when the need to consume the tablets; thus ensuring easy usage and eliminating the chance that elderly have to pick up dropped tablets. |
