Singapore Android Developer Challenge (SADC) 2010

Kelvin Teo and Edison Chan, 2 final year students from Diploma in Multimedia & Infocomm Technology is the Champion of the inaugural Singapore Android Developer Challenge (SADC) 2010 competition. They impressed the judges with "Peek A Boo" - their augmented reality game application!

The team developed a new augmented reality game engine and game-play framework that make full use of Android’s multiple sensing and parallel processing capabilities, to provide game players a novel, context-aware and exciting experience.

"Peek A Boo" is a 2D augmented reality shooting game. This game quickly puts one in the shoes of a hunter in search of hideen fantasy creatures.

Said Edison : “We had viewed a demonstration on the augmented reality and decided to incorporate the technology into our game. It was quite challenging for us to incorporate the camera data onto the Android platform as the software platform is a fairly new technology to us. Thankfully, we succeeded after several tries. We are very grateful to our lecturers, especially Mr Jimmy Ang, for the guidance.”
