For 22 NYP students, their expertise and resourcefulness were put to test at the National Skills Competition (NSC), held at the Institute of Technical Education from 4 to 6 July 2002. The NSC is a platform for students to compete in various trades such as Mechatronics, CNC Milling, Graphic Design, IT and Industrial Electronics to represent Singapore in the World Skills Competition (WSC).

The students participated in 8 of the 12 categories and won 3 golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronzes (see details below). They received their medals from Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State for Education and Manpower, at the Prize Presentation Ceremony on 12 July.

The outstanding competitors for NSC2002 will represent Singapore in the coming 37th World Skills Competition, to be held in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
