e-Learning
|
At Nanyang Polytechnic, e-learning is designed and packaged in an optimal way to combine the benefits of e-learning with face-to-face interactions and hands-on sessions with specialized equipment and hardware. This brings together the conveniences and advantages of InfoComm Technology and face-to-face training for the best learning. This hybrid e-learning model builds on NYP's proven strengths in technology training using the "Teaching Factory" pedagogy of bringing the real world into education, further infusing technology to support learning.
At NYP, e-Learners benefit from
Wireless Access
Notebooks and network interface cards are available on loan for students keen to use this service. For those who have their own notebooks, installation guide are made available to aid their use of this wireless system.
Course Management System (CMS)
CMS complements the School's instructor-led classes and encourages students to access e-Learning materials, review questions, e-quizzes and practice assignments to help them prepare for their studies. Students will find the communication features in CMS stimulating and fruitful for their learning process. For example, through the Discussion Forum, they can conduct online discussion on a particular subject, encouraging peer-to-peer learning and collaboration. The 'progress tracking' feature allows lecturers to monitor each student's progress in the module and provide support where necessary.

Pushing the envelop for e-learning, SEG has provided many hotspots around the campus with the addition of Wireless Access points. Students can plug into access points located in the canteen or library for their e-studies on one hand, and munch through their lunch on the other hand. They need not be desk-bound to access their email account, the Intranet, the Internet or even their course modules.
