Engineering Design Centre (EDC) adopts the "Teaching Factory" concept in which efforts are made to emulate the real-life working environment within the Polytechnic to ensure that our students learn effectively and develop professionally.
Students attached to the Centre are exposed to real-life industry projects and trained to use the latest CAD/CAE technologies to support engineering design and analysis of mechanical systems.
Areas Of SpecialisationEngineering Design Centre (EDC) with a team of experienced staff is engaged in providing customised solutions in systems design to the industries.
The Centre offers conceptual design, engineering simulation services, design visualisation, and prototype development of equip ment / systems.
Industry ServicesThe Engineering Design Centre (EDC) is well positioned to collaborate with various companies in developing designs for special purpose equipment/system and to provide service in design-to-specification projects such as automated handling systems, testing and inspection system and automated processing system.
With our years of experience, the Centre is also able to undertake feasibility study on automation process as well as layout for assembly/manufacturing process.
Engineering Design Centre (EDC) also provides specialised training in the following areas:
Project InformationEngineering Design Centre has successfully developed designs for a number of mechanical systems for the industry. These include the re-design of the Auto-Gate for SMRT, Flexi-circuit inspection and sealing machine, iron rod inspection and testing system, on-the-fly tube-cutting machine, Compact-Disc dispensing machine, precision epoxy-dispensing machine, and automatic label dispensing machine.
