From the Director's Desk

Dear readers,

Here’s wishing all of you a Happy and Successful New Year 2010

The Joint Admission Exercise (JAE) is here and we welcome all those who seek to pursue any one of our Diploma courses. You can be assured that we will prepare you well for a career in the Interactive and Digital Media Industry,be it in animation, games design,

games programming, digital entertainment technology, visual effects, motion graphis & broadcast design or interaction design. Come join us.

2009 was a very exciting and challenging year for SIDM, and we want to give thanks for every single experience that we had.

We are grateful that a majority of our graduates have found employment amid the economic crisis and gratified that the IDM and Infocomm industry is still growing and hiring.

We are extremely encouraged that a good number of our alumni have progressed to assume lead roles in their companies and also by those who have been admitted into top universities in USA, Canada, UK and Australia, some directly into their Masters programs. It shows we are on the right track.

We applaud all our students for gamely participating in various competitions and festivals and for winning a number of awards and achievements during the year, including Best Film School from the Lyons Asian Film Festival in France, Gold winner for Graphic Design & Technology at the WorldSkills Competition in Calgary, Canada, Best Student Film (International) at ASIFA, India, Best of Film and 3 Gold awards at the Crowbars Awards, Singapore, winners at the 30-hour Game Creation Code-the-thon, at DigiCon 6 and at the Safety Helmet Awards, Singapore.

We are highly appreciative of our industry partners who stood by us with their strong support and willing collaboration, providing capability development opportunities to our students and staff. Special mention to Sony CE, Side Effects Software, Infinite Frameworks, Lucasfilm, EA, Scrawl Studios, Koei, Mediacorp, Blackmagic Design, Ubisoft, Southern Stars, IBM, Gevo Entertainment, Double Negative, HBO, YOG Organising Committee, NDP Organising Committee, MICA Young Reporters Training Program Organising Committee, Science Centre, ACM, EDB, MDA and IDA.

On creating a global mindset among students, we are thankful for every student exchange opportunity with our institution partners from US, France, Sweden and China, despite the H1N1 scare in 2009.

Now, as we usher in the New Year 2010, we seek to enter in with the same thankful spirit and enthusiasm. We look forward to doing more with you and see another fulfilling year ahead.

For those of you who are seeking to pursue Diploma courses in animation, games, visual effect, motion graphics, digital entertainment technology and interaction design do check out our web pages here.

Be seeing you.
