Programming Hardware Shaders

Modern games use the Central Processing Unit (CPU) to process the requirements of games. To improve the performance of games, some processing can be offloaded to the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to improve speed and do more intensive but realistic rendering. This demo utilizes the GPU as the hardware pipeline for programmable graphics. The GPU can be programmed using vertex and fragment (pixel) shaders to improve the performance and quality of graphics in game applications

Orge Game Engine Demo

Many modern video games are built using commercially available or open source game engines. Students are introduced to the design and implementation philosophies behind these engines so that they will know how to pick a game engine if required. Students will also be required to develop a game by assembling the various components offered by the game engine with the help of related tools.

Flash Games

Web-based games are gaining in popularity among casual gamers. Our students are trained to consider the strengths and weaknesses of the various web platforms and select the appropriate choices of tools based on the context of their game. They will also learn about the unique characteristics of the casual gamer, the main target audience for web-based games, and understand the impact this has on the type of games that are developed for this market.

Final Year Project

Our students will complete their diploma with a final year project in their final year of study. They will be working in our internal development studios on client-based industry projects. Through this project work, they will be able to build up their skills on team work, project management, technical design and implementation. They will be given continuous feedback on their performance by both their supervisor and relevant representatives from the industry. This will get them prepared and equipped with the necessary skills for entry into the digital entertainment industry.
