National InfoComm Competition 2011

 

NIC 2011

 

NYP School of IT has once again been crowned the Champion of the National InfoComm Competition by MICA MOS MG Chan Chun Sing on 16 Apr 2012.  It is the third consecutive year that we are crowned the overall champion, since 2009.

 

The National Infocomm Competition (NIC) is an IT themed inter-school challenge created to uncover top IT talent in Singapore. Divided into three circuits – secondary schools, junior colleges and ITE/Polytechnics – the competition encompasses challenges focused on areas such as business IT, digital media, programming, mobile technology, security and networking. There are a total of 6 challenges for the ITE/Polytechnic circuit. Teams accumulate as many points as possible from each challenges to become circuit champions.

 

Our students displayed their IT prowess in the Code::XtremeApps, X-site, SplashAwards, InnovateIT, Cisco Netriders, and Microsoft ImagineCup Software Design competitions. Besides walking away with fabulous prizes, the students will also enjoy a 1 week fully-paid coveted knowledge acquisition trip to Silicon Valley.

Can you see all the smiles on their faces?  Yes, our SIT students have done it again this year. NYP SIT has once again been crowned the Overall Champion in Polytechnic/ITE circuit of the National InfoComm Competition (NIC) by Senior Parliamentary Secretary MICA Mr. Sam Tan.    

 

The National Infocomm Competition (NIC) is an IT themed inter-school challenge created to uncover top infocomm talent in Singapore. Divided into three circuits – secondary schools, junior colleges and Polytechnics/ITE – the competition encompasses challenges focused on areas such as business IT, digital media, programming, mobile technology, security and networking. There are a total of 6 challenges conducted throughout the year for the Polytechnic/ITE circuit. Teams accumulate as many points as possible from each challenge to become circuit champions.

Nanyang Polytechnic's School of Information Technology (SIT) was crowned the Champion* of the ITE/Polytechnic circuit having accumulated the highest points by CEO IDA RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay. Our students displayed their IT prowess in the X-site, StrITCombat, Code XtremeApps, Open Jive and Innovate IT competitions. Besides walking away with 6 Nikon D3000 cameras, 6 LG GW525 Mobile Phones and $2400 cash awards, the students will also enjoyed a 1 week fully-paid coveted knowledge acquisition trip to Silicon Valley.

 


 

National InfoComm Competition 2008    (Polytechnic/ITE Circuit)

The National Infocomm Competition (NIC) is a series of infocomm-themed competitions focusing in areas such as business IT, digital media, mobile technology, programming and security. The NIC aims to generate greater awareness and excitement among students and the public and to attract and nurture young talent into the dynamic field of infocomm.

 

Students from the School of Information Technology were awarded 2nd Runner-Up in the Poly/ITE Circuit of the National Infocomm Competition 2008 for having displayed their IT prowess in the JavaJive Regional Challenge 2008 and the Code::XtremeApps 2008 competitions.
