As the Gold Medallist of the IT Network Systems Administration Category at WorldSkills Singapore 2010, Jared Sim, a third year Diploma in Business Enterprise IT student, represented Singapore at the 41st WorldSkills International (WSC) held in London, UK in October 2011. Over a course of four days, competitors were given a new challenge each day and were required to unravel it within 3-4 hours. With tenacity and hardwork, Jared beat talented youths from around the world and emerged triumphant.
Jared describes how he felt when he knew he was awarded the Gold Medal. "It was an incredulous moment when my name flashed on the screen for the nominations. My team mates were cheering as loudly as they could and I was just hopping around ridiculously on the arena floor in exuberant joy. When they finally announced that it I was one of the recipients of the gold medal I could hardly believe it." "Winning the competition has really boosted my confidence and I hope to be able to build on this success."
Congratulations to Jared and all the best for his final semester in school!

“For the past two years, I had to juggle between training, school work and CCAs. I managed to devote some time to perform volunteer work for my alma mater, Nan Hua High School where I was involved in creating portals and developing IT services as well as managing the website for the Alumni Association. I have come a long way but it was a challenging yet rewarding journey. I have certainly learnt a lot, both in technical and in soft skills and become more matured. I would like to sincerely thank the Management and Staff of School of Information Technology for nurturing me and giving me the rare opportunity to represent Singapore on the world stage.” said Thiam Shui.
Equipping with the professional skillsets, Thiam Shui’s hardwork, resilence, ability to focus and work under stress has put him in the world stage as the Best of the Best!
Well done and congratulations to Thiam Shui!
