Team Maestro received a cash prize of $5,000 as champion of NYP-DBS Innovation Challenge.

Our students have proven once again that they have the innovation and creativity to solve real problems!

Team Maestro, comprising students from SHS and SEG, emerged as the champion of the inaugural NYP-DBS Innovation Challenge. The enterprising trio worked on a new wheelchair that can easily convert into a stretcher-bed. They also spent months analysing the marketability and viability of the project. Team Hidden Talent comprising students from SIT and SBM, ideated a walking cane with nifty features to help the visually impaired and won the second prize. The second runner-up, Team Fireflies from SHS and SEG conceived a creative solution to generate energy.

Jointly organised by IEO and SBM, the competition saw 50 multi-disciplinary teams of about 150 students coming up with innovative ideas to shape the world. After the first preliminary round of judging on Mar 13, 10 finalist teams were short-listed to refine and showcase their projects on Apr 27 to a panel of judges from NYP and DBS. The favourite team award also goes to Team Y-3 from SIT, SDN, SBM and SEG. Their idea was to develop an IT gadget to track a person's daily water consumption
