An NYP team emerged 2nd in Singapore, 4th in Asia Pacific and 103rd globally and another was ranked 3rd in Singapore, 9th in Asia Pacific and 212th globally. They were up against 386 teams from around the world.

Hosted by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group – the world's largest financial derivatives exchange company – the CME Group University Trading Challenge is an annual competition where teams of students trade real-time in a simulated environment.

Two teams from the Diploma in Banking and Finance participated in the four-week-long competition (03 to 29 Oct). The challenge? To generate the highest amount of trading profit over a month.  NYP’s results put us ahead of other local competitors, including NTU and SMU.

In the global rankings, the top NYP team (ranked #103) also beat teams representing Ivy League competitors [Columbia University (ranked #130) and Cornell University (ranked #159)], and other top universities, including Imperial College (ranked #160) and University of California Berkeley (#196).

The competition is recognised in the industry for its pioneering efforts in advancing financial literacy using trading simulators.

It was an intense and eye-opening experience as our students competed against both graduate and undergraduate teams from top global universities. They also had a taste of the industry’s competitive standards.
