What a difference a year makes.

Some 6,000 students will be graduating with NYP’s diplomas, advanced diplomas and specialist diplomas from 04 to 12May 2022.

For this year’s graduation ceremonies, a marked difference is the presence of invited guests to cheer our graduands on and celebrate their achievements. The NYP campus, particularly the atrium, became abuzz with excitement!

Says Diploma in Digital & Precision Engineering graduate Alexei Lee: “I’m so happy to have my grandma and dad joining me for graduation today. My mum had to sit out due to the limited seats available, but we’ll definitely be sharing our photos and memories with her.”

Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Education & Manpower, was the Guest-of-Honour at our Institutional Session held on 04 May. Eight of NYP’s top graduates were also presented Distinguished Awards during the session.

In her speech, Ms Gan pointed out that the aerospace and biomedical engineering sectors are important for our economy. She added that the long-term prospects of the aerospace sector in Singapore are promising, as borders reopen and travel resumes.

Ms Gan also urged our graduands to stay relevant and to be bold and innovative. She encouraged them to remain connected to our communities, and to give back when they can.

One of the graduands highlighted by Ms Gan was Sit Shun Le, from the Diploma in Aeronautical & Aerospace Technology. Shun Le won a gold medal in Additive Manufacturing at WorldSkills Singapore 2021, and will be representing Singapore in the international level competition later this year.

“I hope to combine my twin interests: aerospace and additive manufacturing. For example, I hope to embark on projects that use additive manufacturing to print aircraft components,” says Shun Le, who graduated with a Merit Award and the EON Reality Silver Medal.
