When it comes to practical experience, nothing beats learning by doing. One of our innovative programmes is the Teaching Enterprise Project...
Faced with a digital revolution in and beyond the classroom, educational institutions strive to strike the delicate balance between traditional teaching methods and new pedagogies enabled by digital access. In SBM, we continue to emphasise active learning partnerships with students while embracing digital technologies through innovative teaching strategies in our Teaching Enterprise Projects (TEP), simulation games and case studies.
SBM Year 2 Diploma in Banking & Finance student, Corwin Pek, did SBM proud by clinching the Bronze Award at the prestigious international essay competition, The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition. Over 12,300 young people from across the Commonwealth entered the 2017 Competition. The very best are named overall winners. Past winners include Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Mei Fong and the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong. The 2017 competition theme was A Commonwealth for Peace, with topics that challenged young writers to consider peace at every level: from the personal to the political to the pan-Commonwealth. The competition entries ranged from stories, poems, essays, scripts to cartoons about this important and contemporary topic. Here is the link to Corwin’s award-winning essay.
Corwin had also previously clinched the third prize in the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau’s (CPIB) short story writing competition. He received his prize from PM Lee Hsien Long at the official opening of the CPIB Corruption & Reporting Heritage Centre in June this year. SBM continues to encourage budding, passionate writers like Corwin to participate in national and international competitions.
