Secondary school students practising with the NYPSO members.

Thirty students from secondary schools and the Institute of Technical Education had a taste of orchestra music at Tune-in, a Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) outreach event held on March 11. Organised by Student Development, the students, who are members of their school's concert bands, had a peek on the workings of the NYP Symphony Orchestra (NYPSO).

Under the baton of resident conductor Leonard Tan, the visiting students rehearsed with the NYPSO members on orchestra pieces such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Princess Mononoke Medley and Persis Overture. Student leaders from the orchestra also shared on the various diploma courses they are pursuing and their reasons for them choosing NYP after their 'O' levels. One of the reasons, of course, is the chance to be a member of NYPSO!
