The NYP Capstone Leadership Development Programme is a scholarship programme that was launched in 2012. It aims to maximise students’ potential beyond academic excellence through systematic development programmes.

Capstone: Leaders in The Making

It focuses on developing students’ leadership, people skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. It empowers students to lead, advocate and act on community issues through:

• Service-learning training
• Community action projects
• Dialogues with community leaders
• Learning journeys
• Other national-level leadership programmes

This part of the programme is designed for those who may be less experienced in community service. Through a self-directed community service experience, you will gain confidence and identify the community cause(s) that you feel strongly for.

Capstone Service-Learning Training

Widen students’ social circle and build strong bonds with peers from NYP as they build leadership skills in this intensive and enriching training. The activities will broaden their perspective on social issues faced by Singapore communities.

Capstone Community Action Projects

The students will get to hone their project management and resource management skills they picked up in the training though initiating their own community projects. Through the community action project, the students gain great sense of satisfaction when their efforts positively impact the community.

  Gain insights into various topics through dialogue sessions with community leaders.

• Learning journeys
  

  We are all about student-led learning. Organise your own learning journeys for the Capstone community with guidance from our staff mentor.

• National-level leadership programmes
  

  Students will attend other leadership programme that advance the understanding and appreciation of national perspectives, build civic capacity to drive positive change in society, and foster stronger bonds amongst student leaders from different backgrounds.

All NYP scholars will participate in the programme. Students can also join the programme by request or invitation via student’s personal mentor (PEM). Selection process may apply based on student’s personal statement and academic performance.
