The Ministry of Education organised the inaugural Nutrition and Food Science Student Seminar on Feb 21. Supported by Nanyang Polytechnic's School of Chemical & Life Sciences (SCL), School of Business Management and the Asian Culinary Institute, the event was attended by 850 secondary school students who take food and nutrition as a subject. The students learnt about sustainable food consumption, food wastage and food innovation.
Guest speakers included Richard Khaw, assistant director of SCL, and Chef Heman Tan from the Samsui Group. The latter shared on what to expect in the food and beverage industry, and capped off his sharing with a culinary demonstration. There was also an exhibition by organisations and companies like the Agri-food & Veterinary Authority, Neo Group, and Food from the Heart.
