Singapore, 18 October  2016 –  Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre (Suntec Singapore) have entered into a two-year partnership to develop digital media talent.  In this partnership, NYP’s Interactive & Digital Media students will produce animation videos and creatives for Suntec Singapore, through internship opportunities and industry projects with Suntec Singapore. These productions will be screened on The Big Picture – the world’s largest high definition video wall that forms an integral part of Suntec Singapore’s façade.

With one of the highest penetration of digital out-of-home screens in the world, Singapore will see digital out-of-home advertising revenue accounting for more than 60 percent of total out-of-home advertising revenue by year 2018 .  The partnership between NYP and Suntec Singapore allows NYP’s Interactive & Digital Media students to be at the forefront of this rapidly growing sector.

Selected final-year students pursuing the diplomas in Digital Visual Effects, Interaction Design, Digital Game Art & Design, Animation, Motion Graphics & Broadcast Design and Game Development & Technology will have the opportunity to intern with Suntec Singapore and deepen their skillsets in a real-life work setting for three months under a Structured Internship Programme.

Working on The Big Picture will also challenge their content development and creativity with magnified visuals on screen. As part of their final-year projects, SIDM students will partake in projects such as conceptualising and developing animated greeting videos for festive occasions like Deepavali, Christmas, New Year, Lunar New Year and Hari Raya.

Ms Jeanne Liew, Principal & Chief Executive Officer, NYP, said, “It is only with the support of industry partners like Suntec Singapore that NYP is able to provide students with the unique experience of working with the world’s largest video wall. Suntec Singapore’s dedication to co-develop the creative talents of our students will further enhance their skills in large format digital displays and production experiences. NYP remains committed to meet the needs of the industry for a skilled and future-ready workforce, and will continue to work closely with industry partners to ensure our students get the best possible training, and at the same time, add value to industry.”

Mr Arun Madhok, Chief Executive Officer of Suntec Singapore, commented, “It is essential for students to have a conducive environment which not only encourages experimentation and creativity but also enables the translation of knowledge into real-world applications. As such, we are delighted to embark on this partnership which leverages the creative talent of NYP students while offering them valuable access to industry knowledge and the opportunity to experience how technology and design can have an impact on the success of an organisation.”
