Specialist Diploma in Immunology & Infectious Diseases

Course Introduction

Singapore is fast establishing itself as the important biomedical research hub in the Asia pacific with an increasing emphasis on developing core capabilities for research in the areas of immunology and infectious diseases.

 

Many research companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lily, Novartis and Merlion Pharmaceuticals have set up their research wings in Singapore in response to this initiative. These companies focus on research in the areas of immunology and medical microbiology, with the aim of understanding infectious diseases.

 

Aligning to such a vision, Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) has tailored

the Specialist Diploma in Immunology & Infectious Diseases to provide participants with formal qualifications in these areas.

 

The 40-week part-time course aims to equip participants with specialist skills and capabilities for R & D in the areas of immunology and infectious diseases. Special features of the course include 70% hands-on experimental work; interaction and networking with lead industry players; case-based learning; as well as the planning and conducting of research projects.

 

Course Pre-requisites

Applicants should be a Life Sciences graduate with a minimum of a Diploma in biotechnology or equivalent.

Course Certification

Participants will be required to attend all 8 academic modules with a minimum of 85% attendance each and will be assessed based on in-course assessments, group presentations, individual reports, group projects, individual written assignments, and examinations.

 

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Immunology & Infectious Diseases by Nanyang Polytechnic.

Courses Fees & Funding

MOE Subsidies for Part-time Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Specialist Diploma courses

MOE subsidies for Part-time Diploma courses are available to S'poreans and S'pore Permanent Residents who have not enjoyed a subsidised Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Specialist Diploma course at a local Polytechnic or a subsidised degree course at a local university. In addition, S'poreans and S'pore Permanent Residents can enjoy a one-time MOE subsidy for Advanced Diploma/Specialist Diploma courses.

 

NYP Alumni Discount

All NYP Alumni who intend to enrol in any NYP's (including SIRS) Non-Funded Public Short Courses will enjoy a 10% discount on the course fee excluding GST (terms and conditions apply)

Organisations sponsoring their staff for the programme are required to submit the Company-Sponsorship Form. This can be obtained from the Course Calendar at Professional Development Centre.

 

Please note that application will not be processed without the receipt of supporting documents by the Application Closing Date. Candidates without the Company Sponsorship form will be regarded as self-sponsored candidates.
