Mechatronics engineering, the integration of electronics, intelligent computer control and mechanical engineering, has seen numerous technological advances. Today, our generation has benefited from the convenience provided by mechatronics products such as the computer hard disk drive, the printer, the DVD player and the treadmill.
Mechatronics Engineers, with the breadth of knowledge and skills they acquire from the various engineering disciplines, will be in great demand as the industry continues to move a higher level of technology integration.
Course Aims
The course provides:
-
a sound broad-based foundation in mechatronics with a choice to specialise in application technologies such as Automation & System Integration, Wafer Fabrication Technology or Biomedical Engineering; and
-
an exposure to advanced automation technologies with an emphasis on developing problem-solving skills for integrating these technologies
Duration: 3 academic years on a full-time basis.
Career Prospects
The training of the Mechatronics course obtained from the multi-disciplinary nature will add versatility to the graduates' capabilities. They will be able to adapt flexibly to a wide range of industries, and make contributions in develping new technologies and pioneering new approaches in production.
Engineering graduates from NYP will also be able to upgrade their knowledge and skills by pursuing their studies in local or overseas universities.
