WSQ Specialist Diploma in Machine Building & Project Management

Introduction

In manufacturing, machines are needed to support activities like inspection, testing, assembly and packaging.  Technicians and engineers who can design and build machines, and support staff who can operate and maintain them, are crucial to the success of many manufacturing companies.

The PE WSQ Specialist Diploma in Machine Building & Project Management provides you with the knowledge and skills to design and build manufacturing machines. You will also gain thorough understanding of mechanical components, sensors, actuators and control of integrated systems This specialist diploma

• is a joint initiative by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA)

• equips you with the skills and knowledge you need to remain relevant

Course Duration

• The course comprises 255 hours of classroom and practical training

• The course is conducted in English

• Classes are conducted on two evenings per week from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm

Course Structure

Apply 3D CAD for Machine Design

Gain the skills needed to create 3D models and assemblies of machines, and learn about drafting and graphical communication.

Simulate and Analyse Mechanical Systems in Machines

Learn about motion simulation and perform structural analysis of mechanical systems used in machines.

Design and Analyse Mechanical Components and Peripherals in Machines

Learn to work with mechanical components and gain knowledge on cam design, jigs and fixtures for assembly works.

Apply PLC and Pneumatic control for Automated Machines

Learn to draft a generic control scheme and to translate the scheme into a programming language, plus handle the actual implementation of the scheme on a machine.

Manage Projects in Machine Building 

Learn about the key phases in designing and building machines to achieve successful implementation of machine building projects.

Admission Requirements

You are welcome to apply if you have at least a WSQ Diploma in Precision Engineering or NITEC qualification from the disciplines in Science and Technology segments, which include Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent. Mature students without proper qualifications but whose present work scope include machining maintenance of machine, engineering design, and related fields in the manufacturing and engineering industry can also be considered for this course.

Delivery and Assessment

The course consists of lectures, case studies, group discussions, projects, hands-on labs and workshops. You will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for the completion of each module. When you have obtained all 5 SOAs related to the WSQ Specialist Diploma in Machine Building & Project Management, you will be issued your full qualification.

Course Fees  

Singapore citizens and Singapore PRs (after WDA funding)  is $2,430 (excl GST)
