NYP’s Trail Blazers stole the limelight when they won the Embedded Development category in the prestigious Microsoft Imagine Cup 2008 held in Paris this July. The team from the School of Engineering (Electronics) used their passion for technology and concern for the environment, to develop an Environmental Monitoring System (EMS).

The team’s low-cost, self-sustaining environmental monitoring robotic system gives high-quality environmental data in real time. Our 4 aspiring engineers fought off competition from China, Ireland and Poland in the Embedded Development Category.

A total of 370 students from 124 teams representing 61 countries and regions took part in the finals of Microsoft Imagine Cup. Finalists were selected from more than 100,000 students from over 100 countries world-wide. In Singapore alone, Microsoft received more than 1,100 student entries. For this year’s competition, the students were asked to “Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment.”

These NYP final year students joined the Imagine Cup because they have been inspired by the innovative solutions and ideas from previous winning entries.

Our heartiest congratulations to Trail Blazers!
